Natalay, that is EXACTLY what I thought, too. The average working guy or girl doesn't mind helping people, but we don't have the economic power to do so on a scale that celebrities do. What I mean is that Beyonce (or Colin Farrell, or Julia Roberts, or whoever) can write a check for $1 million and in one fell swoop, make a HUGE difference in a disaster relief fund. Instead, disasters end up being another chance for them to get some face time, and solicit our money, and still come out looking civic-minded and concerned.
As for Hollywood supporting Obama: Most of the people in that industry can't seem to manage their own lives very well; I don't think they deserve any shot at trying to manage the country. They can endorse the Boobahs for president, for all I care--their opinions mean a warm pitcher of spit to me.

There was a well-known study that came out a year or two ago that belies what you have just posted. In fact, conservative and/or Republicans donated MORE of their time and their money, both absolutely and as a percentage, than did liberals and/or Democrats.
I could care less about who a so called celebrity endorses. I refuse to go to movies, I don't buy pop music, and I don't watch television. I don't support hollywood, so I don't care who hollywood supports. income taxes themselves are the cheats. the most intelligent people vote libertarian. egomaniacs vote democrat, and religious freaks vote republican.

But I do know what celebrities give by reading about it in the LA Times, plus local TV coverage of the many events put on by actors to help people everywhere. Some travel to Africa to donate help; many are involved heavily in charities. Paris Hilton btw comes from a Catholic family that gives much money to the church & numerous charities in Los Angeles
