When Bob Dole was the GOP presidential candidate against President Clinton many in the Republican party thought he was too old & not a very appealing person to attract American voters.
Now the same thing is being written about McCain being too old & not very colorful. Personally I like McCain though disagree with him on just about everything [since he is a Republican]. But I think Obama will beat him by worse numbers than Dole's defeat.
Part of the GOP's problem [and there are numerous problems thanks to Bush] is that they all look alike: old white men in a world that is changing faster than they can keep up with.
The outcome in November will be the same as 1996.
There is hope for the Republican party in some young energetic Governors out there.
Pawlenty, Sanford, and Jindal are the future of our party. Lets hope they start to build momentum for 2012. If real conservatives want the party back then we need to eliminate the far right religious influence in the GOP. While I agree with some of their ideology it has no place in our Government. If the Republican party does not get itself together in the next 4 years (for the 2010 congressional elections) I'm switching to libertarian. The GOP gets one more chance, after McCain fails, in my book.
