People would rather barbecue burgers with Barack Obama than with John McCain. By a margin of 52%-45% people said they would prefer having Obama over for a barbecue. Personally, I don't how anyone could eat looking at McCain's face, that and the possibility that he could keel over at any minute would be enough for me, forget politics.

Before anyone makes fun of this AP poll (broken link), just remember one of Bush's big selling points was he was the guy people would most like to have a beer with.

Well, the ladies taking the survey probably didn't want to have lock up their prescription drugs, credit cards and husbands to prepare for Cindy coming over.

I would too (rather have Obama). But it has nothing to do with his policies.

I'm not planning to vote for Obama, but I can see why he would be a better addition to the guest list.

I don't think the poll is any evaluation of their political positions. It is as folks are saying a reflection of where their personalities are today. McCain seems more like somebody else's grandpa and Obama is more like the new neighbor down the street with the big house. Not sure McCain is good at telling jokes without a captive audience to polite to go to anoter table.

EXACTLY - and the media rediculed middle America for voting for Bush for this reason.
Now that the poll is about their savior its A Ok.

One of the reasons I am rooting aginst Obama is because he is the Media's and Hollywood's little darling. The Media and Hollywood are 2 institutions run by people who could not be further away from reality.

It's amazing how many people who are voting against Obama are basing their support or derision on the opinions of others.

"Hollywood likes him, so I am voting against him."

"The young are voting for him and they are stupid, so I am voting against him."

etc

I think they are more angry because most of those who support him just joined a bandwagon of celebrities and the media and really dont know what he stands for. I think that was the point the poster was making.

That's a pretty broad statement to be making... I don't think that most of Obama's supporters are voting for him simply because of celebrities... I'd say the biggest generalization you could make, is that people are voting for him because they don't want another Bush in office.
