Are these legals or illegals? And does the pollster ask that question?

Why, because conservative, moral and working Americans don't support illegals? Glad to know that the democrat party is where all the criminals and criminal supporters go. It isn't a coincidence that people who support illegal aliens are usually democrats. Nor people who support groups like the KKK, NAMBLA, ACLU, communists, etc. The democrats have a long history of attracting people like Bill Ayers and the black panthers and the KKK.

The poll shows what a fools errand it is for McCain to pander on amnesty. Look at where that's got him. 30% behind Obama. McCain should have been for an immigration policy that was good for the future of this country, not what's good for future of illegals. Too late now. He can't really backtrack too much and yet this foolish man still won't win the Hispanic vote anyway. What a dope.

I cut off your post when it started rambling into hysteria.
(A Democratic KKK shadow force out there , huh?)

But I was referring more to the way many Republicans will twist any topic involving Hispanics into an illegal immigration issue and talk about how Hispanics are "just interested in helping their illegal friends." Or as other of our Republican friends have posted - Hispanics all want free handouts with Obama.

Maybe, just maybe the conservative, moral and working Hispanic Americans are starting to get pissed off about it.

Until Republicans start to realize Hispanics do not equate to illegals and stop looking down on them, they will continue to lose crucial Hispanic votes in swing states come election time.

Too bad, so sad.

Really? Hispanics are behind Obama? That is *nationally*. And Cubans in particular tend to vote Republican. Where are there a lot of Cubans? Florida! Where are there a lot of non-Cuban hispanics? New York, which is already a slam dunk for Obama. There are a lot of Mexicans in Texas, but that won't make a difference.

National polls mean next to nothing... you need to consider the electoral vote. How Florida and Ohio vote will determine everything.

These are the same polls that had John Kerry winning in 04 and Obama winning NH by 13 points. What happened there?

If I must.

Hispanics loom as a potential "swing vote" in next year's presidential race. That's because they are strategically located on the 2008 Electoral College map. Hispanics constitute a sizable share of the electorate in four of the six states that President Bush carried by margins of five percentage points or fewer in 2004 –New Mexico (where Hispanics make up 37% of state's eligible electorate); Florida (14%); Nevada (12%) and Colorado (12%). All four are expected to be closely contested once again in 2008.

Pew Hispanic Center Report: Hispanics and the 2008 Election: A Swing Vote?

"The latest national polls show that Obama is showing surprising strength among Latino voters, given the weakness that he showed in the primaries," says NDN president Simon Rosenberg. In the same article, our friend and pollster, Sergio Bendixen, explains the relevance of our NDN's research by pointing out, "The Latino vote will be more important than ever in this year's election....The election may be decided by Florida, New Mexico, Colorado and Nevada, where the Hispanic vote can decide who wins in those states.''

Media coverage of Hispanics Rising | NDN Blog

Florida now has more Hispanic voters registered as Democrats than Republicans.

The difference is small – less than a percentage point. But it reflects a long-term demographic shift that could benefit Democrats: the increasing dominance of non-Cubans, particularly Puerto Ricans, among Floridians of Hispanic descent.
