I worry about the role that hot-button issues will play in the 2008 election. The election of 2004 was all but settled by a quest to preserve "moral values" in the United States, and I am concerned that this election cycle will be a repeat of the previous one.

Do you think gay marriage/rights, abortion, and the like will play a significant role in the election this year?

No. Those issues only play a role when there are no other issues in the election. If the economy was booming and there was no war and gas was $1.75 then those issues would be playing a significant role. But that is not the case this year.
