I would have instantly supported the vice presidency of Jim Webb if it were to have happened and, thus, tangentially have supported and voted for Obama.

He'll probably go with some pretentious idiot that hates Appalachia, as per usual.

Obama-Webb potentially could have united the "tortured siblings" (as Webb put it) of African-Americans and Appalachian-Americans together as one huge, pissed off ball of historical marginalization. Finally fighting together, united as one against the system that has exploited and forgotten about them for centuries. It seriously would have been beautiful. Like in the MLK "I have a Dream" sense.

Darn.

He as well as many others are running from Obama for a reason. They dont want their careers ruined by knowing him.
Look at Obamas past and you will see what happens to Obamas close friends, most are in jail or going to jail or working the night shift at Taco Bell.
Webb is smart to run away from him. Maybe his career will be saved now.

i wouldn't have minded webb, but his past comments and views of women in armed forces could hurt him huge in the general election.

he'd be on my shortlist though.

however, this is just lip service IMO to tell his constituents in VA that he is focused on his job in representing them. If obama asks him to be his VP, he'll accept.

that said, clark is still my first choice as VP. after him would be webb but i do fear webb's past comments about women hurting the dem ticket if selected (doesn't affect me personally, but electability is huge).

"At this time I am also renewing my commitment to work hard to make sure that Senator Obama wins both Virginia and the presidency this November. He is a man who speaks eloquently about our national goals and calls for the practical solutions that must be put into place to obtain them. I will proudly campaign for him."
