Obama: ICE "Terrorizes" Illegals | The Patriot Room
Quote:
The system isn’t working when 12 million people live in hiding, and hundreds of thousands cross our borders illegally each year; when companies hire undocumented immigrants instead of legal citizens to avoid paying overtime or to avoid a union; when communities are terrorized by ICE immigration raids – when nursing mothers are torn from their babies, when children come home from school to find their parents missing, when people are detained without access to legal counsel.
|
Oh dear.
Law enforcement, doing their jobs, are now considered terrorists by the leftist/socialist Obama.
Of course, look who he was speaking to. La Raza.

Oh, come on, a terrifying situation, not the same as calling ICE terrorists.
And those are kinda scary situations, aren't they? They'd terrify me. I realize the illegal immigrants shouldnt be here in the first place; he's just pointing out that the system isnt working as it currently stands, and it's not.
"We need stronger border security.....We have to require that undocumented workers go to the back of the line, so that they are not getting citizenship before those who have applied legally."

This is the same kind of bumbling mistake made by Kerry when he said our troops were "terrorizing" Iraqi citizens in the dead of the night.
Equating ICE with terrorists just be the fact the are doing their JOB, is outrageous.

"Not only does this demonstrate his demagoguery on immigration, it also shows his cluelessness in the war on terrorists. If he can’t tell the difference between al-Qaeda and ICE, then not only should he not be President, but Illinois needs to answer for his selection as a Senator."

I hear he wasn't wearing a flag pin while he said it!
Just another non-issue.

He didnt equate them with terrorists. He said "communities are terrorized...by raids." That "just" means they live in fear, and it's terrifying when they're busted violently or callously. That's the way these things operate. He knows that. That's why he's gently pointing out that the system's got to be changed and that illegal immigrants - again, kindly - need to "go to the back of the line."
From that thar link at On the issues:
"We have to improve our relationship with Mexico and work with the Mexican government so that their economy is producing jobs on that side of the border. The problem is that we have had an administration that came in promising all sorts of leadership on creating a US-Mexican relationship. Bush dropped the ball. He has been so obsessed with Iraq that we have not seen the kinds of outreach and cooperative work that would ensure that the Mexican economy is working not just for the very wealthy in Mexico, but for all people."

Interesting they both voted to pass the Bush bill in 2007.
Sanrene would you support them (Bush McCain Obama) on this?
Immigration
Mr. McCain supported a 2007 bill, strongly backed by Mr. Bush, that called for establishing a guest-worker program and setting up a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants.
Obama
He voted in favor of a failed bill for comprehensive immigration reform in 2007 (S. 1639) which would have introduced guest-worker-visa and path-to-citizenship programs for illegal immigrants already residing in the country, as well as increased border security [source: U.S. Senate].
bama also voted for the Secure Fence Act in 2006 (H.R. 6061), which approved $1.2 billion for a 700-mile-long (1,127-km) fence along the U.S./Mexico border

What we are doing, which is pretty much nothing on a federal level, is not working. I am against illegal immigration and I feel that those who are in the country illegally should be sent back to their home country, go to the back of the line, learn English and pay a fine. The borders must be secured. But more importantly, those who hire and provide housing for illegals must be fined heavily, if they continue to break the laws, they should be arrested and imprisoned.
Obama is stating a fact, I might disagree with some aspects of his immigration proposals, but the differences between him and McCain on immigration are hardly worth discussion.

All of which is 100% true. Bush was working with Fox to figure out border solutions until 9/11. Then Bush forgot all about it in his Saddam- induced frenzy.
Nice to see Obama having the courage to tell it like it is, and not pander to a small but loud group of nut case extremists.
