Conservative Christian leader James Dobson has softened his stance against Republican presidential hopeful John McCain, saying he could reverse his position and endorse the Arizona senator despite serious misgivings.
I really hope evangelicals are moving away from guys like James Dobson and Pat Robertson to determine their views for them, but I'm not counting on it.
Though this could be a big plus considering the amount of influence Dobson has.

If I hadn't already been a supporter of Obama, Dobson's half-hearted semi-endorsement of McCain would have sealed my support for Obama. Dobson is a nutcase and I hope the Religious Right gets their comeupance soon. I think they'll be feeling it when they realize how uneducated their children are. Ever seen Jesus Camp? They watch the pro-creationism film Jurassic Ark to learn and they believe that, as one young zealot said, "Science proves nothing." I hope Dobson gains some self-awareness and starts to realize that he's pretty much irrelevant to anyone but the most rabid of Christians.
In november when it looked like Obama was going to get the democratic bid I never would have thought McCain stood a chance. Of course I also never thought McCain would be the republican nominee (still having issues with that). The latest Rasmussen poll has them locked in a dead heat 46% each when you include "leaners". I really believe that if McCain takes a lead in the polls that it could be over for Obama. Never would have thought Obama would be having this much trouble. Obama can't admit mistakes and he is getting caught and he carries baggage OOOPS!McCain has a 30% lead over Obama in who do you prefer to lead the troops.
The real problem is the house and senate 9% approval rating lowest in recorded history but they keep saying the reps. will lose more seats in both?
"There's nothing dishonorable in a person rethinking his or her positions, especially in a constantly changing political context," Dobson said in a statement to the AP.
Hahahahaha! Ya just voided your opportunity to ever, ever, ever say Obama flip flops, Dr. D! (That is, if you plan on being honest... )
I wonder why he waited this long to come out for McCain. What was he waiting for? Clearly he wasn't praying about it - or maybe he didn't like the answers he kept getting.
If Jesus were weighing these two candidates, you'd think he'd be on the side of the one who wants to help stop suffering, who encourages volunteer work, who wants the nations of the world to find common ground and work together. And you'd think that a professed man of faith would go in Jesus's direction. Wouldn't you?
Dobson fans, you may want to turn off the radio and go back to the Bible. See these guys for the carnies they are - refuse to be manipulated by self-serving businessmen!
