Too many people seem to forget the dire 1988 electoral maps for Dems. Magazines saying saying they were out of it forever...
The GOP has stumbled. Its in bad need of changing of the guard. You can begin to see them now. Jindal, Palin... not quite ready for the national prime time now... but, by 2012 or 2016...
The Dems will fall again. Then rise again as their old guard gets changed.
I am amazed by how many people say Obama is a permanent change. ROFLMAO. There is nothing but change. Just when it seems hopeless for one party. They are in fact already starting to fix themselves.
Its kind of like the economy and recessions. Often the economy is already starting to bottom out, just as people complain the loudest.
Yup - although I might argue the time-frames with you.
The shifting of the balance of power is not only inevitable, but desirable and necessary. A party - and party - that remains in power for too long loses touch with the people and becomes simply self-serving - that is taking care of the particular INDIVIDUALS in power rather then the rank and file party members or the country at large.
Eventually the party members figure this out, become disgusted, fail to vote (or even support the other side) and the party in power falls. At that point there is lots of finger-pointing and political canniblism within the party (just wait to see what happens in the Republican party after November) and a new set of party leaders emerge who are determined to regain the nations' trust.
The Repugnants have been in power way too long, and their idiotic stewardship of this nation has put us in a very precarious position. Even if the Dems are not that successful in extracting us from the neocon mess, inshallah this country will not return the bridge to those who have steered it into chaos.
Yup, but being fat, stupid and lazy we'll give the lesser of two evils game another roll. At least, until the country becomes bankrupt or ends in bloody revolution.

Try putting down the crack pipe*....
*I always assume that anyone who rants about "neocons" or "allah" while who engaging in hysterical hyperbole is on drugs. No offense.

Oh, if the Dems completely overtake the Senate and the House and if imbecile Obama wins, after a 4 years of these people in power, the US economy and foreign relations will be in such turmoil, that the GOP will make a huge comeback.
It will be a repeat of 1980.
But it would be a painful 4 years. That is why I am still pushing for MCCAIN to win!!

Obama is massively more popular abroad than McCain is, so I wouldn't worry about foreign relations. As of right now there the absolute worst we've ever seen in modern America. Our reputation's in the ****ter, my friend.
