it's called a capital gains tax, aka, bush's tax cuts for the wealthy. you and I are paying for this. you are a real estate agent, please explain this to me. why does the federal government feel it's their right to take a percentage of your real estate profits, but if you lose money on the investment, you can't write it off. perhaps I have a bad accountant??

Who's paying for all of this?

Real Estate Broker ~sigh
Well I'm tired of paying...how can I increase your share?
Not the Europeans but Americans living in Europe. I guess when one lives an insular life as so many Americans do, it's impossible to view it's government the way others do. These guys over here get it, while so many of y'all don't.
Exactly. When one has seen a bit of the world, the USA does not come off quite so well as the flag waving Floyd R Turbo types would have us all think. I get especially bemused by those whose knowledge and awareness are so thin that their knee-jerk response to almost anything (like some sort of national scheme for health care) is "we can't do that, it's socialism!" and other breathless exhortations to express that they're shocked at the mere thought.
This country has been so wacky during the Bush years that I too contemplated moving to Germany or France to get away from the lunacy.
Ohhhh noooooes! What's the matter? Couldn't man-up and do it?
Perhaps he decided to stay and fight against the lunacy. That is what I have chosen (and I also considered throwing in the towel at one point too, but decided to 'man up' and take on the bastards).
I will gladly pay for your ticket, but you must sign a contract that you are never to return.
