Previously we asked the question if he was trying to get inside his head. This article from Politico suggests that he might already be there. Only time would tell and with his recent surge in the polls why would McCain care. Shouldn't he just shrug Obama off like one would something on their shoulder? You know the old hand wipe with a smile

The campaign is all about Obama - Jonathan Martin and Mike Allen - Politico.com

McCain’s bitterness, frustration and near-obsession with Obama are on plain display: He even gave some free advertising to his opponent’s book the other day, complaining about the Illinois Democrat’s headline-grabbing trip.

Hopefully the good Senator will once again get focused on himself and his agenda for when he is President. I hope it won't be four years of I beat him yes I won. I was right about me being President. Me being President was my idea. He wanted someone else for President. Four years of that with all of our challenges just might have people wishing Bush could have run for a third term.

October, that's when the GOP onslaught will begin.
They don't mind letting Obama have the focus right now, he's giving the GOP strategist all the ammo they need.

I agree, this must be their strategy. Nevertheless, they still dont have much to offer in the way of a candidate, while Obama moves ahead learning about the issues from the experts, in order not only to craft policy but to speak and debate from a position set in honest reality.

True but what will be left of the candidate McCain once elected to govern? Will he be even more of a shred of his former Maverick self? Will he ever be able to govern more efficiently then he organizes his campaign. Will the RNC need to run the country as they are now needing to run his campaign. With the RNC running the country does that equate to Rove, Cheney and their creation Bush effectively having four more years. Hmmm Obama loses and gets his 20 million book contract. McCain gets the White House and all of the problems associated with being president. Hmmm I wonder if Obama really wants to win or if he is just enhancing his financial opportunities. McCain when he is done serving will be able to right his book. If he remembers!

Yes, McCain knows he has met his match & comes out looking reactionary & desperate. Insecurity breeds lashing out in anger which, all the more, weakens McCain.

He's a lost cause, I afraid.
