For four days, Sen. John McCain and his allies have accused Sen. Barack Obama of snubbing wounded soldiers by canceling a visit to a military hospital because he could not take reporters with him, despite no evidence that the charge is true....

A reconstruction of the circumstances surrounding Obama's decision not to visit Landstuhl, based on firsthand reporting from the trip, shows that his campaign never contemplated taking the media with him....

Has he answered the question why he needed to have a staffer go with him yet?

A military veteran wanted to go with him.

You better start working on your talking points in defense of McCain and his campaign throwing out lies all over the place.

Considering your "source", so what? Believe nothing of what you hear, and little of what you read on the net, especially from radical political sites, either side.

Wow. All the money to create and run that commercial, and it turns out to be based on a LIE???

Oh, it appears theyve got a whole, um, "narrative" of propaganda I mean commercials in the pipeline based on this VERY SAME LIE.

There is a great, detailed story at the WaPo (hey, it's on the front page! ): McCain Charge Against Obama Lacks Evidence
Despite serious and repeated queries about the charge over several days, McCain and his allies continued yesterday to question Obama's patriotism by focusing attention on the canceled hospital visit.

McCain's advisers said they do not intend to back down from the charge, believing it an effective way to create a "narrative" about what they say is Obama's indifference toward the military.

This is just one more sign that McCain and the old dinosaurs attached to him dont understand they live in a different world now, or at least the rest of the planet does.
It's a lot harder to get away with a lie nowadays than it was in the days of Vietnam.

Yeah, well, when have facts EVER gotten in the way of a political attack?

Virtually EVERY political attack ad on virtually EVERY candidate is a lie - or at the very least an exaggeration.

I wonder if you asked the wounded soldiers if they'd prefer a president who came by once and shook their hands or one who voted to provide them with medical care, financial support while they re-adjust, and the improved GI bill, they would sure take the one who provided them the support they need and not the handshake. The Disabled Vets Association give McCain a D for his support. They gave Obama a B. Who is the soldier's friend?

The problem with posting something really sensible that might actually persuade people to think twice is that then you see all the other places, threads, where its information is relevant and timely. Do you cut and paste the post, or rephrase it, or just let it go? It's very difficult living in the first world
