(CNN) -- Sen. Hillary Clinton has agreed to speak on the second night of next month's Democratic convention, sources say. She will then hit the campaign trail for Obama, focusing on Nevada, Ohio and Florida.
Clinton will headline on August 26 -- the 88th anniversary of the day women earned the right to vote. "Tuesday night is Hillary night," said one supporter.
OK, let's see how observant you are. Why is this particularly significant?
If history is any indication, she's been ruled out for the veep slot. There's mention in the article, she's not been asked for records meaning she's not being vetted.

Yet even Mr. McAuliffe, in a separate interview on MSNBC on Monday morning, seemed to acknowledge the diminished chances of Mrs. Clinton’s ending up on the ticket when he said he expected her role at the convention to consist of delivering a speech on Tuesday night. (If history is any guide, the vice presidential candidate speaks on Wednesday night; Mr. Obama’s advisers said they had not decided when Mrs. Clinton would speak.) http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/29/us...Mo0E3U2MX9Q/fg
it is a big day in womans history and the whole day that day will be dedicated to woman. It is the 88th anniversary of the day woman gained the right to vote and all of the female senators will be on the stage with her.

That's pretty awesome. i think a lot of people have forgotten how big a year this was for women in the whole black/white agenda of it all. I’m extremely proud that Clinton was able to go as far as she did; and I hope this encourages other qualified women to run in the future.
My grandmother said history is repeating itself; as black men were given the right to vote before white women. That’s kinda cool in an eerie X-files sort of way. Although I hope it doesn’t take 50 years for us to have a female president.

Waterlily calls it--the VP traditionally speaks on the 3rd night, and they wouldn't schedule the same speaker two nights in a row.
BTW, the rumor mill here seems to think Clinton will be offered a significant ambassadorship (if Obama wins, of course). I can see her doing extremely well in such a role and having a major influence on world politics.

Does she have international experience? I'd give ambassadorial jobs to Bill Richardson.
Sure, why not. You may not have had the answer I was looking for--but you did have a great answer. Rep points for you.
