When I was in high school, a major lawsuit was filed against the school for allowing "Magic: The Gathering Cards" in school, as witchcraft. This was in a very liberal area of the NE. The group actually BUSSED in people from out of state to the rally they held.

After that, they were mad that the school had Earth Day celebrations that involved teepees.

After that, they were mad that we learned about other religions other than Christianity in Global Studies.

About 4 parents caused all of these lawsuits because they called up these Christian Conservative organizations and got their backing. Ridiculous.

Imagine the nerve of parents who just want their kids to learn reading, writing and arithmetic and not some wacko liberal’s "Suzy has two mommies" agenda.

Earth Day and Global Studies were the issues sued over.

Why would you not learn about religions from around the Globe when you're in a "GLOBAL STUDIES" class?

"Suzy has two mommies" and "Daddy's roommate" have nothing to do with cultures, everything to do with poor and unhealthy choices in behavior.

You didn't even read my post. The school was not sued over anything at all relating to homosexuality.

The school was sued for teaching about religions other than Christianity in Global Studies, and for having an Earth Day BBQ (they said that was "Pagan").

I was continuing the thread from another reference to culture, not talking about world anything or some lawsuit.

Then why did you quote my post and say homosexuality did not relate to Global Studies? Just wanted to get a dig in at homosexuals, didya?

Hmmm.... so you're saying that if a school allows students to have a club, that means the teachers aren't able to teach reading, writing and arithmetic?

Are you saying that holding Earth Day without teepees will allow teachers to do a better job focusing on reading, writing and arithmetic? (Gosh darn those teepeees, they keep kids from learning how to read...)

Somehow I really don't think this is about teaching... because filing lawsuits against a school does more to interfere with a school's ability to teach.

BTW, this works both ways. Filing lawsuits against a school to promote a liberal agenda is equally wrong.
