Default President Obama- Out Of Gate On Healthcare?

According to an "inside tip" on Chris Matthews today, Obama plans to come out of the gate on healthcare and Hillary will be his "running back" on the issue in the Congress and Senate. He sees it as a winning issue and one that he can ram through fairly quickly which will give him momentum on other issues down the road.

I'm still waiting for an EXPLANATION on how he will save the average family $2500 a year in healthcare premiums. I've bought my own policies for 10 years. The only thing that lowers premiums is decreased coverage.

Good luck....he has to get Congress to show up in order to ram anything down their throats..

As of right now, they will be in session less than a month after the current recess before the elections.

Other than the weatherman, the only people I can think of that get paid well to not get much done correctly.

The Time Has Come for Universal Health Care | U.S. Senator Barack Obama (http://obama.senate.gov/speech/070125-the_time_has_co/ - broken link)

According to his plan, some expensive medical conditions will be partly subsidized by the goverment. So then , our medical costs will then be the premiums on our insurance PLUS the income tax needed to pay for the subsidies. There are no figures or estimates on the percentage tax rate needed for these subsidies on his website.

Not to worry...only those that have worked hard, gotten an education and proved themselves to be worthy of promotion by dedicating themselves to some type of employment will be paying for this healthcare for all.....OH WAIT, THAT WOULD BE US!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea, like we REALLY can point to even ONE "goverment"subsidized program that is currently be running cost effectively???? Please help me by naming it if you can. Doubt it, since such an animal does not exist.

Allow those that want to put PRE TAX MONEY into a medical account have more than a year to USE the money and you would see those that earn their money be able to spend their money on healthcare. As things are now, you have to use it within a year. It should be allowed to grow and be useable by you or a family member and turned into a retirement balance if the need never arose because of good health. THAT is a plan!

We need a system where EVERYBODY pays and EVERYBODY uses as needed. Not what we have now where SOME people PAY but ALL people USE. I am for Obama on this.

Not everyone will pay. His plan only required families to have their children covered. Clinton's plan required everyone to be covered or to face monetary penalties if you didn't have coverage.

Also, Medicaid patients and low income s chip patients won't pay either.

How true. I'd like to set up a HSA, but in NY, the premiums are as high as an HMO, so its better for me risk wise to take an HMO.

While that might be true for THIS plan, you have to view this plan in a wider context. It is not the ultimate plan which will be single payer National Health as most other first world countries- in fact ALL of them but South Africa already have but this plan is a START towards getting us there. I am sure Obama would like to get us all on a single payer plan the day he takes office but he knows that the American people do not like quick radical changes and it would be difficult for him to get it done (as Hillary found out). Americans like "evolution" and not "revolution". So this plan is a START for a slow evolution into a national system.
