I thought it was sort of funny that I could sign up to receive a text message to hear it first. I didn't bother (I'm sure I'll here it within a millisecond of the announcement from the people I know on his campaign).

I hope not either. I learned the hard way back in 2004 what giving your email to a politician entails (hint - almost daily emails begging for money, and no, Obama is no exception).
