I am one of those people who find neither Obama nor McCain appealing prospects for different reasons.
Obama: Far too liberal and an IA/amnesty supporter.
McCain: Too old, supports amnesty and lacks depth. While I respect his service to this country, holding elected office for more than 35 years doesn't mean that he's qualified to run the country.
IMHO The "politicians" who have been around the longest bare the brunt of the responsibility for the poor decisions that have led us into the mess this country is in today. All we have to do is look around at what used to be America.
Given the slim pickins' if Hagel were selected as Obama's running mate, I'd consider voting democratic.

I am so in agreement with you on this. It's time to bring some balance back to our government. A lot of incumbent republicans are up for re-election and it is rumored that the majority will lose their seats to democrats. I am not looking forward to the possibility of a government being run by one party.

There's always 2010, but I suspect Executive level balance will see America prosper far beyond any of her most recent great moments. The Title Superpower will have real meaning.

I am a black woman and a former Democrat that has been a registered Independent since Clinton left office. Obama is one of my senators. That being said:
Both Obama and McCain are in the pocket of big business. Once either of them is elected, unless there is some balance in the form of a TRUE conservative in the VP role, by 2010 America will be officially DOA.

Been an Independent for some time now. Allegiance to the Constitution allows for an interesting view. Senator Obama has some fairly conservative views on a number of things, but it requires research beyond campaign rhetoric. In todays environment, Global as well as Domestic, Diplomacy will be critical. I haven't heard Senator McCain speak to sacrifice as much as the Illinois Senator and I'd like to hear him say it. Being a little more forthright regarding what he would do economically could help him, from what I've seen the cuts he proposes will require sacrifice in immense proportion and it will take his generation to convey that message to the big spending generation of today (which hasn't seen fiscal sacrifice for decades).
