I would, the last 7 years proves electing a self-proclaimed believer does not guarantee competency in the White House.

Heck, yeah. Someone's religion -- or lack thereof -- is his or her own business.

I'm with Thomas Jefferson:

"It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."

For me, that works for presidents, too.

Default yes

I've got news for ya-
All presidents (and most politicians, for that manner) besides our current idiot in charge, are atheists. Most smart people are. They just pretend to be faithful to get votes from you ninnies.

I'd vote for an atheist if he/she promised to be as tolerant of Christians as Christians are of atheists.

Because we've all seen how such people do good and don't cheat, lie etc... BUt I guess in your head...they "will be accountable for their actions"

I would, because I agree with most on here...prove it to me.

Where do you get this from? I'm an atheist, but you're just making stuff up for the hell of it. Why not just say that all Presidents have been gay cross dressers? You'd have just as much proof that what you say is true, and all the liberals would approve.

Let's go back through the last few Presidents.... none was an atheist.

-GWB (43)...we know where he stands
-Clinton - religious in his public life...less religious in oval office w/interns
-GHWB (41)- religous
-Regean - religious
- Carter - VERY religious (and a liberal)
- Ford - somewhat religious
- Nixon - somewhat religious, from a very religious family
- LBJ - religious
- Kennedy - from a devout Catholic family, not sure how personally religious

All people are only accountable to man. I say being accountable to man alone is better. You are judged now, for what you do now. There's no lay-a-way plan on your actions.
