"It seems reasonable to ask the Navy whether there are at least 636 pages in McCain's file, of which 617 weren't released to the Associated Press."

Jeffrey Klein: McCain's Secret, Questionable Record

Quote:
McCain thought he might make rear admiral, but probably not vice admiral, and never become a four-star admiral as his grandfather and father had been.[191] McCain later wrote that he did not anguish over his decision;[190] he was excited by the idea of being a member of Congress himself[183] and was soon recruiting a campaign manager that Cohen knew, for a planned run at a House seat from Arizona.[58] In early 1981, Secretary of the Navy John F. Lehman told McCain that he was about to be selected for one-star rear admiral, but McCain declined, telling Lehman that he could "do more good" in Congress.[183]
He didnt want to stay in the USN. He didn't "anguish [sic] over the decision" because more interesting opportunities, and no unpleasant memories, were possible for him in Arizona, the home of his new wife and her mom and dad.

Fun Facts! Did you know:

1) that in 2001, McCain was so angry about the way he'd been treated in 2000 that with Ted Kennedy, John Edwards, and others, he discussed the possibility of switching to the Dems?

or 2) that he had conversations with John Kerry's aides about being Kerry's running mate in 2004?

NOW THAT'S CHARACTER!

You do realize that WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, The Bay of Pigs, Kosovo and Somalia were all wars/conflicts started by Democrat Presidents? The Republicans were the presidents who were then elected to end the war and bring our troops home. You can Google it is a part of history. It always makes me laugh when liberals refer to Republicans as war-mongering when they entered the US into the majority of the wars and the most deadly and costly wars of our history. Care to try again?
WWI - President Wilson
WWII - President Roosevelt
Korea - President Truman
Vietnam - President Kennedy/Johnson
all dems. all lost to Republicans who end the wars and brought home our troops.

Presidents on both sides of the fence have gotten us involved in conflict. But what Luiso is trying to really say is that the "NEOCONS" that are on TV that are running there mouth aren't the replicans that you are talking about. IKE was a true Conservate. These people on TV now are noting more than NEOCON talking heads who really aren't conservatives. There is a differnece.

Ohh my, I forgot all about that stupid line.

So Obama gives answers and makes decisions on his paygrade.

How could I forget that stupid line?

What an idiot he is.

Obama still thinks we have 57 states, shhh dont tell him any different, he will never know.

What do you all need to know about President McCain's military because no matter what answer is giving you will just tear in down with your anti American crap and hatred for any military person.

And what army did Obama serve in? Ohh, I know he was a gang member while growing up and selling drugs to kids. Can we get those records please?

I am after all the only Republican in my mom's family going back four generations and many are serving as elected officials. I however am my father's son and saw liberalism for its true colors.

Interesting.

Could it be you're supporting the wrong party? Democrats appear to have much more War experience than Republicans. Perhaps the Democrats know a lot more about Wars and the Economy than you give them credit for. Thank you for this information.

No junior officers are handed a 'major command'.

It takes decades of climbing the ladder to get to a high enough rank to command anything of major importance.

I served in the Navy for 20+ years. Most of my commanding officers had already served long enough to qualify for a pension, BEFORE they assumed a major command.

Thousands of junior officers flew jets, or commanded small infantry units, etc. And they got out. Or when the war ended they got out.

Very few stayed in uniform long enough afterwards to climb to a high rank.

You may want to look into those wars just a bit, as you don't seem to have much understanding of American History. While the dems started them, it required a Republican to win and bring the troops home. Every dem president that got us into war was defeated while in office with an ongoing war raging....hmmm the entire country feels safer under the watch of a Conservative Republican President as history has repeated. No I don't support the party of appeasment and socialism that is what the democrats stand for as they know nothing else. Dems hate capitalism, tax everything, double taxation for small buisness owners (the people that have kept the country going during hard and slowing economic times), tax big oil that already pays three times what it makes in profit, will they tax NBC for the billion+ they made off the olympics? As Reagan said "The scariest words I've ever heard are I'm from the government and I'm here to help"!
