Considering that the Democratic race was so close the smartest choice would have been to pick Hillary.. THAT would have united the party and.. well made the ticket the hottest one ever!

Now.. he's got a harder haul ahead of him..

Soooo disssappointed in his choice.. should have been Hillary!

I agree.

However, I am happy with his pick.

I trust the judgement of the Obama campaign.

Remember the election is about the electorial college vote, not popular vote. Most of the Hillary supporters are in hardcore democratic states that a republican would never win today. So the sour Hillary supporters really wont affect the election, especially since most Hillary supporters in the polls said they would back Obama. In the swing states its the independents that make the difference and independents went for Obama in the primaries. Hillary would have also energized the republican base and that would have actually hurt Obama because republicans hate her. Hillary fans will just have to wait for the next try in 2016.

I like Hillary. BUT, if I were Obama, I would not have picked her either. Not because of Hillary but because of Bill. How in the world could a new president ever get his own agenda in place or his own vision accomplished if a former president is always there, always being interviewed, always being consulted, always manipulating behind the scenes, always having their agenda and their views considered by the media instead of or in addition to the new president? Too many cooks spoil the broth. It is one thing to work together with your vice president. It is another to work with your vice president AND a former president.....especially one who is always in the eye of the media.

The democrat base would have loved that, but it would of gauranteed a loss in the rest of the country!! There was not a snowballs chance in algore's climatecrisis that he would have ever put her on the ticket!!
