I just read a CNN poll about “Securing the US”.
The question was: Who can handle the responsibilities of commander in chief?
McCain was ahead 78 to 58.
It occurred to me that now with the situation in Georgia and the prospect of the return of the cold war, if one asks a similar question two different ways, one my get two very different answers. I’m sure that if the poll asked the same people: “If the cold war returns and a situation like the one during the Cuban missile crisis arises, who would you prefer to have for Commander in chief” the results may be the same in favor of McCain.
But if the question is “If the cold war returns and a situation like the one during the Cuban missile crisis arises, which candidate would act like Kennedy and defuse the situation, and which is more likely to start a war?” I think the results may be quite different. What do you think?
