I also believe there is a great difference in respecting the office of the presidency & respecting the president him or herself - I've found myself making that distinction often over the years.

It confounds my mind that you feel Obama is so out of touch with the United States that you could never accept him... I am rendered speechless by that statement, actually.

Seeing his rise... learning more & more about who he is & what he stands for / believes in... & seeing the unity, faith, hope, fervor in my fellow US citizens has been nothing short of awe inspiring for me. For the first time in all of my life I believe I have found a candidate that I can truly believe in, trust his judgment, believe what he says, respect not only the office he holds but who he is as a human being.

I am overflowing with hopefulness for the future of not only this country but the world we live in! I am sad that you cannot see things even a bit as I do... I respect each of our right to our own opinion...
Fantastic post. I absolutely agree. It's amazing that some people look at this intelligent, inspiring man who took himself from meager beginnings and a broken home to such overwhelming success in his personal and professional life...who genuinely cares about his country and its people...who sincerely wants to change the status quo this country has experienced throughout modern history from Republicans and Democrats alike...and who has courageously stood up to the old, white codgers who've been running Washington for so long, to say "Yes we can!" and "Enough!"...and all they can say is that Obama is nothing more than a good speech-reader, that they fear the future under an Obama Presidency, that Obama is full of empty rhetoric, and that Obama is out of touch with America and with Americans.

IMO, it's not so much Obama who's out of touch, as it is these people who claim him to be.

It is certainly a great night for Democrats, and a wonderful night to be an American.
Well, if Obama can't get above 50 per cent in the polls after tonight, then I'd be very worried about November. Quite frankly, I'm keeping my expectations and tears down until he actually beats McCain come November.

Meanwhile, I just got one word for McCain--McCain't

The only reason there was a bus from Colorado Springs for Obama's speech is because there were SO MANY people who came to the convention and to hear him speak, that there was no room for them all to stay in Denver.

McCain's camp is tirelessly working to bus people in from other cities, as well as OUT-OF-STATE, and throwing free tickets at people in order to persuade them to attend his speech in Dayton. He cannot even drum up 10,000 attendees, while Obama had 80,000+.

The two don't even compare.

Just putting my 2 cents in. I cried all the way through this. Obama was fantastic tonight! I felt he really cares and has cared about all of these issues he addressed tonight, and so do I. He also encouraged me to do more myself! Go Obama!!!!!!!!!

he choose one of these "white cougars" as his running mate.

I am not against him because of his humble beginnings, I am against him because of his policy's.

No, the reason there was a bus from COS was that they closed off all the parking lots, making it extremely difficult for anyone to drive in. COS is only about 100 miles away. And the tickets were free. Colorado is a huge state and the next nearest state is about 120 miles away from Denver (Wyoming). Also, this is the DNC acceptance speech vs a campaign rally. So you're comparing apples to oranges, except in both cases the tickets were free.

I wish our government remembered the above statement, but they have stolen our power, and are doing with it what they will. Only voting out the people that think that they hold the power will we have it back in OUR hands. Obama is not CHANGE, he is just another scum bag politician that will steal our money, give it to people that do not deserve it and disguise it as "a helping hand" I am an American, that is why I am voicing my opinion in hopes to bring about TRUE change, and not just another man in a suit that thinks he is the power. And as I have said, I will not vote for either, it is time for a third party. The two partys no longer have differing opinion, they are essentially one party that is dysfunctional.

why is it that when you stay you will not vote for obama, somehow they think you are going to vote for McCain?
Nowhere did I assume or insinuate who you would vote for, nor attach to you a party affiliation. I responded directly to your declaration that the President was not your President, and the insinuation that he doesn't represent you.

But a lot of middle class people are gonna run from their bigger tax cuts under Obama and vote for McCain because they will fall hook, line and sinker for all the lies that are gonna be told about Obama, such as he's a Muslim. Oklahomans and people in other red states will be very, very vulnerable to these lies.
