I just saw a poll on "Hardball" on MSNBC, and 67% of people polled said VP choice Sarah Palin would hurt John Mcain's chances, rather than help.

Just 33% said it would help his ticket.

This can't be a good thing for him. I seriously think he's made a bad decision with her.

Good news for Obama's camp.

I agree so far, from what I've seen from the media and heard from family/friends/co-workers.

Oh come on. Can we wait until a few weeks down the road and get a REAL poll?

I don't think he made a bad decision with her at all. If he would have picked a white, rich, older, politically seasoned man (like himself) it would have effected his chances negatively. He has a good chance of picking up Hillary supporters and women voters in general. Not a bad move IMO.

I asked a couple conservatives at work today how they felt and the "Barr now has my vote" response seemed to be the most common.

I think it is completely naive that women will simply vote for McCain because his VP is a woman. Every young woman I know is pro-choice and would never support a pro-life candidate, even if that candidate was a woman.

Personally, I am unhappy with both parties but at this point, given the disaster that the Republican Party has created in this country with out-of-control spending, government intrusion in our personal lives and freedoms and this horrible war in Iraq, I will be holding my nose and voting for the Democrats.

I am basically socially liberal and fiscally conservative. The Republican Party has proved that they aren't really fiscally conservative at all. Basically the parties are separated based on social issues so I won't be caught dead voting for an anti-choice, moralistic bible beater. Add to that the disastrous Bush years in terms of foreign policy, we need a new direction. Bye, bye Republicans and for the time being at least, good riddance.

Good news for Obama's camp.

It is a VERY bad decision. McCain essentially picked a TOKEN who does nothing to dispel the fact that Bush and McCain stink.

McCain made a political calculation and it may pay off for him. He calculated that he already has the white male vote and that Obama already has the minority vote. The real fight in this election is going to come down to white women- both working class and professional. Obama needs them to win and he just peed off about 2 million of them by not putting Hillary or Sebilius on his ticket. McCain made a calculation that he can win droves of white women by doing this which will ensure he wins the election. And he may turn out to be right. As I stated, this election is Obama's to lose and, right now, he is doing a good job at losing it.

The Most Popular Governor

Quote:
In the roughly three years since she quit as the state's chief regulator of the oil industry, Palin has crushed the Republican hierarchy (virtually all male) and nearly every other foe or critic. Political analysts in Alaska refer to the "body count" of Palin's rivals. "The landscape is littered with the bodies of those who crossed Sarah," says pollster Dave Dittman, who worked for her gubernatorial campaign. It includes Ruedrich, Renkes, Murkowski, gubernatorial contenders John Binkley and Andrew Halcro, the three big oil companies in Alaska, and a section of the Daily News called "Voice of the Times," which was highly critical of Palin and is now defunct.
maybe you should read this article. She will make a great VP - this is just the kind of person obama TALKS about - a true reformer - something obama would know NOTHING about.
