Palin was the mayor of Wasilla just 3 short years ago. Seems like she left the town a little present...a debt of $20 million. That works out, in a town of 5400, to approximately $3,700 per person.

Quote:
Palin, who portrays herself as a fiscal conservative, racked up nearly $20 million in long-term debt as mayor of the tiny town of Wasilla — that amounts to $3,000 per resident. She argues that the debt was needed to fund improvements.
Quote:
According to the Frontiersman newspaper, Wasilla’s library director, Mary Ellen Emmons, said that Palin asked her outright if she "could live with censorship of library books.” Palin later dismissed the conversation as a “rhetorical” exercise.
A $20 million debt, the Steven's VECO scandal (Steven's endorsed her just yesterday), Troopergate, censorship of library books....Palin may not have any experience but she does carry baggage.

Sounds like typical Republican policy:

Rack up huge amounts of debt while touting themselves as conservative. How people still fall for this nonsense is beyond me.

Republicans:
Tax breaks for the wealthy
Huge debts for all of us

Can our kids afford to have Republicans in charge of this country?

Yes, she had much-needed roads built and the support of most every citizen to do so.

What say you now?

So it's ok for repubs to spend money as long as the citizens support it but God forbid a democrat do the same thing! It's nice to know Alaska is doing so well financially that their citizens can afford such an expense.

Building roads for who? She probably used all that money to buy skateboards for her five children

Suprisingly the dems are the fiscally responsible people. Republicans borrow everything and never want to do the responsible thing which is raise taxes on the wealthy to pay it back.

20 mil is nothing for a town of that size. I come from a town of 5000 and that amount of money is spent all the time on ifrastructure and improvements. And she does nothing without a commisions approval and hence the approval of the people.

She also slashed her own salary and reduce property taxes by 60%. Ill take that any day
