Definition of social conservative
One who favors social policies based on a particular reading of Judeo-Christian values, generally in favor of public prayer and the right to own guns, and opposed to abortion rights, same-sex marriage and the teaching of evolution in public schools.
Value based issues are now the standard for the election and people will begin to realize that.
Palin is a very strong social conservative and they love her.

And this will be the undoing of this country... social issues are what should dominate your home, your family, your church, even your school (if it's a private institution), not the government. Government is there to provide a general structure and protection, not to determine what our individual values should and should not be.

That is why this election is now so important and voters better be aware of the implication of their vote. If you vote based on gender and social conservatism is not compatible with your beliefs then why? The implications could be considerable for either side.

Unfortunately neither candidate is talking about the issues that really matter like our economy, the decreasing value of the dollar, the dismal status of our banks, the huge national debt, and the mess that SS and Medicare are in.

Social conservatism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Present social conservative issues in the United States
favor the pro-life position in the abortion controversy
support restriction of civil marriage and child adoption rights to couples in homosexual relationships
promote public morality and traditional family values
protect key American industries like defense, certain raw materials, and agriculture from foreign competition
promote the nuclear family model as society's foundational unit
support government's involvement in values education and character development
oppose secularism and privatization of religious belief
support prison reform, with greater focus on punitive measures rather than rehabilitation
oppose human cloning and federal funding for embryonic stem cell research (see stem cell controversy)
protect Second Amendment rights
oppose illegal immigration and support extensive government monitoring of national borders
Social conservatives are clear on the issues and what they believe and want to make law and policy.

Obviously, values. Issues are fleeting and they change, by their very nature. But if you share the candidate's values, you can predict how he or she will decide whatever issues come up and feel comfortable with his or her decisions.

Well, I'm sorry, but belief in the Lord Jesus dominates my home, my family and my church. Any good that we do is based on our service to Him and not because some "rights" group is banging on our door.

Most Americans will say that issues are most important in an election yet they will immediately start dropping values-laden subterfuge bombs to dissuade any discussion of issues. I voted for values in the poll simply because I know that's as far as we will get prior to election day. And too, I believe candidates are more at ease talking about abstract values rather than concrete issues for which they can be held accountable later.
As proof I offer all the values-bombs that have been dropped today regarding Sarah Palin.

That is exactly what I said, these social issues should dominate your personal life, not the government.

You know I could say something about where I think your head might be, but I will not. No, I am not a racist, nor am I clueless, I just happen to think Obama is a baffoon.
I have listened to him in the debates, and I have watched him over the last year. I made my decision about him in Janurary.
I find him shallow and self-absorbed.
I think he would harm our country and I disagree with him on several points.
He is far too liberal and he has no judgement.
I did not fall for his act although countless others have.
I will not be swayed by your rudeness, and back down. I am determined in my stand for Mccain.
Anything else?
oh, yeah: Peace
