I'm with you for so many reasons on this one.

Forgive me if I repeat a few points as I posted before reading all the replies.

FWIW, I know a few people who happen to be Mormon and I think they are good people. I respect their faith and particularly their tenet of being self-sufficient while eagerly helping those in their community who are not. It's unfortunate that our society-at-large is not set up that way. From what I've read on the Utah forum, some people have the impression that Mormons are insular, but I think they're a lot more welcoming than, say, the fundamentalist sects out in Colorado City, AZ and such.

I think Mitt Romney is a decent person. I commend him for helping to save the Salt Lake City Olympics. I applaud him for showing true "compassionate conservatism" with his goal of universal health insurance in his state, as it accomplishes a progressive goal albeit with the idea that it would be less costly than continuing to accept uninsured patients in emergency rooms. I don't agree that he is fighting the now-legal right of any two adults to marry.
And I believe he has flip-flopped over from "pro-choice" to "pro-life" on the abortion issue. So he doesn't match my personal values enough for me to vote for him.

As far as a Mormon Presidential candidate in general goes, my impression is that most tend to be at least moderately conservative, Nevada Senator Reid notwithstanding. While that might be acceptable to me for some political offices, that's not who I would want for President. So, based on my assumption about their political leanings, I probably would not vote for a Mormon for President.

I was referring to that I've seen you use the Osama/Obama typo before.

Or at least I thought I did.

Hmmm... if I confused you with someone else, then I apologize.

Actually I call Bush "worse" nicknames to my offline friends... but I won't needlessly fan the flames here.
