Because some of the surprises he'd pull could be very bad indeed.
are you, a democrat, afraid of change? besides, it might be 8 years of that!

I like changes when I know what the change is going to be. I don't like last minute surprises.

If McCains doesn't know the difference between "change" and "surprise" maybe the Alzheimer's is already starting...

Did you say IMPULSIVE?

McCain is an impulsive decisionmaker - ! * POLITICS * ! - tribe.net
Republican national convention: New questions over McCain's choice | World news | The Guardian

At the very least, the process reflects Mr. McCain’s history of making fast, instinctive and sometimes risky decisions. “I make them as quickly as I can, quicker than the other fellow, if I can,” Mr. McCain wrote, with his top adviser Mark Salter, in his 2002 book, “Worth the Fighting For.” “Often my haste is a mistake, but I live with the consequences without complaint.”

Wow out of the mouth of the impulsive himself.

Does his desire to make decisions quicker then the other guy mean he will launch the nukes on a hunch?

Wow oh wow. This didn't hit me when I first posted. Now I know why he was named McNasty in high school and always won fights. He hit the other guy first and knocked him down before he could get a word in.

His biography is full of "act first, blink and apologize later when called out" Life Lessons. But by the time you get to be 72 you should have learned from a few of them, in a broad-brush sort of way.

And he does complain, though it shows in sulking and more "hasty decisions."

Dont know about you but I WANT an impulsive, petulant old man who holds grudges leaning on that red button!

IMO, McCain's last minute decision and his 15-minute interview made a mockery of this process. Now we have to do the vetting for him. I'm very sorry that vetting is an excruciating process--but since McCain would not handle it properly himself it will now have to be done publicly. God knows what other surprises will be discovered.

It's very gracious of Mr. Obama to make the statements he has made. However, he is the job candidate and I am the employer. Up until yesterday, I was amused. Now I'm ticked. McCain made a mockery of the system--I cannot allow him to have an important job like this.

Funny how everyone has forgotten how Mr Obama forgot to vet the illustrious Pastor Wright. And please don't vote for Mr McCain and then when Mr Obama can't live up to his promises of change then you will only have yourself to blame.

I think it was obvious that nobody wanted change for the worse.

Last I checked, Obama's pastor wasn't going to be left in command of the country if Obama dies, so that's a slightly different issue.....
