I can't believe the junk that passes as truth on the Internet so let's get one thing right about Sarah Palin. According to TIME Magazine, Palin is a longtime member of Feminists For Life which is not opposed to birth control.

Here, read it yourself (page 2):

FEMINIST? ha ha ha ha ha... Charging rape victims for their justice is not the work of a FEMINIST.

It's the work of the DEVIL wearing PRADA.

First of all - that group does not hold a stance either way and posts on their site that they believe contraception to have had a negative health affect on women.

Palin's star rises - CNN.com
Her 17-year-old daughter's pregnancy notwithstanding, she doesn't want public schools to teach about birth control. But she would like them to discuss 'Creationist' alternatives to the Theory of Evolution.

This is an excerpt from "Feminists for Life's" website:

Quote:
What is Feminists for Life's position on contraception?
Feminists for Life's mission is to address the unmet needs of women who are pregnant or parenting. Preconception issues including abstinence and contraception are outside of our mission. Some FFL members and supporters support the use of non-abortifacient contraception while others oppose contraception for a variety of reasons. FFL is concerned that certain forms of contraception have had adverse health effects on women.
Feminists for Life - Women Deserve Better

It seems that their members have some varying views on things.

Whoa horsie! They just did a TRUTH story about this crap. It was the STATE who was making the cities CHARGE for the rape test kits. NOT PALIN! When she was the MAYOR the Govenor she beat in the next election was the one who was charging the cities so the state didn't have to pay for it. The butthead that got fired is the one saying she was charging.

Actually no, you have it quite backwards... it was the police chief of Wasilla (appointed by Palin) that had issue with charging for the rape kits (too expensive). The prior Governor signed legislation to STOP charging for them (read on).

While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.

Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.

Thanks for the truth of the situation!

It is amazing to me how fast people are to jump on a lie when a little Googling would clear up the misunderstanding.

No...the state wasn't making the cities charge for the kits.

Then-Gov. Tony Knowles said Thursday that Wasilla was unique in the state in charging rape victims for the cost of doing the law enforcement necessary for solving the crime

I assume you're talking about Tony Knowles. Please provide some proof that he was the one "charging the cities" so the state wouldn't have to pay for it. As I remember, it was his administration that put a stop to this practice in Alaska.
