Liberals... How is Obama MORE qualified to be President vs. Sarah Palin as Vice President?
I want real thoughts from real liberals. I go to DailyKos because I like to see the other side. A big topic is her "thin resume". Seems dangerous ground for the Obama side. but...
Enlighten this barbarian!

I would not say that obama is any more or less qualified than palin to be in office. I don't think a person has to be a career politician to be able to rise to the occasion...
But, Seeing as how McCain's whole platform against obama has been about experience, why now is he choosing a running mate with a "thin resume" as well??? I really can't say she'd be good or bad at being a VP based on her little experience.. I really think public service is more about your heart and judgement than your "patriotic rhetoric".
What we do know is that she is a mother of many children who are young, and is that going to impact her abilities to do the job and her judgement? Not to mention, her family lives in Alaska which isn't exactly like taking a commuter flight to cleveland.
I think the whole debate about experience is being spun by the GOP.. nobody is criticizing her on her lack of experience... its about choosing her as a running mate when you've done nothing but attack obama for it.

Maybe because she's only been mayor of a small town, and less than two years as a governor of a small state (smaller than some cities)?
She may as well be the mayor of Syracuse, NY, where I came from. It's ridiculous. She's no one for the "international stage" (which Obama can be, as we've seen), especially if McCain dies during office, which could happen easily enough at the age of 72, God forbid.
Can you really see her as Leader of the Free World? I can't.

Don't discount the significance or difficulty of the Alaskan governor's job, just because the state has a small population. There's a lot more going on in Alaska than crab fishing and moose hunting.

I don't know if you noticed, but McCain's 96 YEAR OLD MOTHER was at the RNC last night, looking pretty damn lively for a woman her age. I'm not too concerned about his age - that family has longevity.

Yes. More so than Obama, who has absolutely zero executive experience.

Executive experience is vastly different than legislative experience. The ability to manage people and finances is required of an executive. While Alaska does have a small population (<700,000), it is a large area, has a large budget, and requires a lot of oversight to keep running. Alaska is a major economic engine.

Why do you say she's no one for the international stage? Obama has no real foreign policy experience. A speech in Germany doesn't show that he can work with world leaders or represent our nations interest. In fact, being Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee on European Affairs, he seemed to disregard the opportunities it offered him. If anything, we can say that Obama is dismissive of foreign relations until it becomes a political football.
On the age issue, the median life expectancy is about 10 years (half of 72-year-olds today will be dead in 10 years).
Of course, if you want to keep with the stereotypes, 32% of black men will be incarcerated during their lifetimes. Barack (as far as we know) has never been incarcerated. Do you think Joe Biden is ready to take over as president if Barack Obama goes to prison, which can happen easily enough to black men, God forbid.
See how stupid that sounds?

I will be interested in seeing any legitmate responses. So far, the only thing I keep hearing is that she has children. Funny how that wasn't/isn't an impediment to any other candidates...

Here's the difference:
We knew going in the primaries that Obama didn't have so much experience, but we still chose him as our nominee. The Rebulican nominee chose Palin, NOT THE PEOPLE. To me, that is a big difference. We believe in Obama so much that we chose him. No one except for McCain's people chose Palin.

And it's not that she has children, it's that she has AN INFANT. I disrespect her as a woman and mother. Not to mention her politics. I'm kinda tired of the radical Evangelical Christians coming to power. Honestly, it makes me nervous for our country when we have radical religious leaders in office, y'know, like those Muslim countries.
