Yes - the ALA is against censorship of books. I sure would hope that librarians would be against censorship.
They DARED to say the gay penguin book should stay on the shelves. God forbid a book tries to teach tolerance to children, right?
Nothing in your article states that conservative librarians have been fired. The ALA does not have the authority to fire librarians.
It is a well known fact that conservative librarians are under fire and are in fact fired from their positions, for even recommending what might be "interpreted" as a conservative leaning tome.
When first elected the mayor of Wasilla, Republican vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin approached the city librarian with the idea of banning some books that were morally or socially objectionable to her.
This is the mistake Dem camp is making forget about her daughter.
Simply show her ultra conservative view which is loved by the conservative right.
Her view's are enough to make every Independent run to Obama.
If she adds firing teachers for practicing witch craft to that list she can be a Principal in Land O lakes Florida . Conservatives here don't like "witches" lol
I don't support censorship of ANY kind. Way to try and tie this into Muslims. Also, there is a big difference between a retail chain deciding not to sell a book, or a publisher deciding not to publish it, because they don't want bad press, and the Government trying to BAN books at LIBRARIES.
A store deciding to not sell a book is a financial decision. While I think it is weak and ridiculous, that is not Government censorship.
What are your thoughts on Palin attempting to ban books from libraries? Try to answer without falling back to Muslims or comparisons to the left.
What are your thoughts on this specific action by Palin, and the firing of the librarian for objecting?
Her views are a gift to the Obama camp. They better use it . Simply show the masses her views .
If she was a man they would tear him up they better do same and play Hard ball .

Ok, where are the links if it is so well known? All I find is an article about a Librarian that was fired for reporting someone looking at porn.
Here is some info about Palin regarding her 6 year tenure as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (population 5570). This is impressive stuff and should help shepherd her into the VP role:
** Expenditures by the town increased by 33%
** Taxes increased by 38%
** Taxes were shifted so sales tax increased and property taxes on large corporate owned properties decreased. Result, whether you're filthy rich or dirt poor, you're going to pay a SALES TAX ON YOUR FOOD while wealthy land owners found a decrease in their tax rates. SOUND FAMILIAR to the Bush tax scheme?
I dunno..this is sounding more like the supposed "tax and spend" Democrats. Who's the taxer and spender HERE??
I love to read books and I enjoy reading about whatever topic, from whatever author I feel like. As an American, I have the right to choose what I read and not have the decision made for me. What she was doing was censorship. What kinds of books were they that had her so affronted? Does anyone know?

This must be told to ALL Americans, the threat these Republicans pose to the TRUTH is very real.
