In 1984, Walter Mondale received 12 points.

Obama received a 8 point bounce.

I can't get over, how Al Gore received a sixteen (16) point Democrat Convention bounce and lost.
This is different because Barack Obama is a black man and millions of people still subconsiously have a problem with that.

Please don't pretend to be ignorant of that fact.

Not to worry though, by November after Obama wins, perhaps peoples perceptions will change.

We all know Florida was the deciding factor. Stop trying to re-write actual history and votes.

Not to forget about last election, when all these ridiculous electronic voting machines that have NO PAPER TRAIL were used in Ohio and were deleting votes to Kerry. Have you never heard of all of the bizarre things happening on those voting machines without paper trails designed by Republican backers?

not only was diebold in charge of tabulating votes in ohio, there were very relatively few voting booths in poorer cleveland precincts. those democratic leaning voters in those precincts waited hours to cast their votes. blackwell, the ohio sect'y of state cast a heavy hand over the election results in ohio. i wish that kerry had contested the vote. the history of the last 4 years might have been better for it.

Except Al Gore never received said 16 point bounce. The thread title is false.

Prove that it's a fact first. It's no different than me saying that because Obama is black, all black people will vote for him.

I guess I missed the poll about people voting against Obama only because he was black. If anything, why are so many Hillary backers voting for McCain? Racism? Sexism?

Kerry not contesting the vote just solidified the fact that Bush won easily. Don't fool yourself by thinking he wouldn't have fought the results if he knew he even had the slightest chance. Just more sour grapes.

Bounces are irrelevant. The only poll that matters is the one done in the voting booths on the first Tuesday of November. And with the new attack strategy of the Dems, the Republicans will finally have to face up to their failed policies in the coming weeks. Barack has already had the kitchen sink thrown at him a hundred times and has held strong, but the substantive attacks on McCain and Palin are only beginning to pick up steam.

Be afraid Republicans... Very afraid! There is absolutely no defense for what you have done to this country over the last eight years.

Are you a person of color?

I am and I have encountered racism and believe me, its still alive and well in the minds of many people. I dont need a poll to confirm what I already know.

How do you expect a decidedly RED conservative southern state to all of a sudden go blue just because the candidate is from there? That has nothing to do with the candidate and everything to do with the state being obviously way more conservative than the presidential candidate.

Better analysis might help..

You really make no sense.

First of all, Al Gore never got any 16 point bounce it was 8.

Secondly, the polls were right in regards to Al Gore. The polls you look at measure popular vote and Al Gore DID win the popular vote but still lost the election. These poll numbers we look at are useless, we should be looking at individual state polling and electoral maps!!!

It's all about the ELECTORAL map and clearly Barack Obama is doing much better than McCain in that regards AND in the popular vote.
