Yep, that is right! Contrary to popular belief, Alaska is pretty darn liberal. Anchorage, where about 70% of all Alaskan's live is chalk full of liberals. There are far more democrats then Republicans. Yet in recent polls BEFORE she was nominated VP, almost 90% loved the job she was doing.

Think about this people? Anchorage is full of sandal wearing, tree hugging liberals and they still love this lady. She is a cherished governor to the state of Alaska and now the entire US is falling in love with her. A truly briliant move by McCain!

Looks pretty red to me.

In presidential elections, the state's Electoral College votes have been most often won by a Republican nominee. Only once has Alaska supported a Democratic nominee, when it supported Lyndon B. Johnson in the landslide year of 1964, although the 1960 and 1968 elections were close. No state has voted for a Democratic presidential candidate fewer times. President George W. Bush won the state's electoral votes in 2004 by a margin of 25 percentage points with 61.1% of the vote.

From CNN election result archives.

2004 61% for Bush
2000 59% for Bush

Yeah, it is a regular liberal mecca up there.

FYI, Libertarian is not the same as Liberal.

Rural Alaska is conservative, but not Anchorage. Anchorage is one of the most liberal cities in the US. This is no joke either.

LIBERTARIAN, not liberal. If Anchorage is where 70% of Alaskans live, and they are all liberal, than Bush wouldn't have been winning with such a large margin. They haven't voted for a Dem President in over 40 years.

Not 1 voting region of AK voted blue:

Dave Leip's Atlas of U.S. Presidential Elections - Data Graphs

The data shows it, AK is in no way a liberal state at all, and that's pretty widely known.

Yes, there quite a lot of liberal bunnyhuggers in Alaska. Lots of them in Juneau, and Anchorage, and then around University West in Fairbanks. But rural Alaska is conservative. Presidential they usually vote Republican, but locally they often vote across the lines. That's why we have had Democrat as well as Republican governors every few years.
