Isn't it sad that McCain has turned VP selection into a gimmick (Reagan, liberal)

I don't know what the outcome of this election will be. But it's a sad state in America when the president could be chosen because of how much of a "Grand Slam" gimmick his running mate is instead of whether or not he or she is the most qualified person to do the job should the president not be able to anymore (this is really what the vice-president does, folks!). Does anyone agree with this?
That makes both sides equal. They both have a gimmick candidate--Obama, and Palin.

I'm thinking he picked the Governor so that he could tell her how to vote in case of a tie in the Senate.
You do realize that politics is a game right? If McCain had picked someone else would you have voted for him? He pretty much had to take a gamble like this, or it would have been a blowout come November.
But ----- if it's really "Country First" as all his convention signs screamed, then why would he pick someone totally unprepared to handle the office of the Presidency of the United States?
A "blowout" of a frightening nature could be the result if the McCain/Palin ticket somehow wins..

Yeah I agree Biden should pick better.
Of course I don't agree to a blowout....do we need to startup another "will there be riots?" thread
Great observation. But, you know, the American people will truly she what the McCain/Palin ticket is all about.
I don't know, she's a "hackey meom" and a "gal". Hopefully voters will be able to tell the difference between being able to lead our government should the president die and being a walking "human interest story." But I lost a lot of faith in my countrymen when Bush was re-elected.
Yes and at least you agree it has all been and still is a gimmick.
Actually I don't agree with you. The point I was trying to make is that gimmicks don't last very long. The truth is eventually exposed. That is why Palin is hiding from the media and getting last minute tutoring from Bush's aids so she doesn't make an utter fool of herself and the party.
