Actually, the Chicago marxist, Saul Alinsky coined the term "community organizer". Just another one of Obama's mentors.

American Thinker: Obama's Alinsky Jujitsu
No. Such a person need not even be paid. I would not call good hearted people 'lackies'. They are not usually affiliated with an organization, and even if they are, they do not push their opinion, but try to help solve problems.
I don't know anything about your marxists, but suspect it is just a Republican red herring.
I think if Jesus were here today, he would not like some of the cold hearted people who choose to twist words rather than admit the truth.

What we are saying is that we are all supposed to follow His example, serving the poor and needy. That IS what community organizers do. If Jesus were here today he would be finding ways for people to keep their housing and he would give them a health care program, etc.

What is wrong with you? Are you a thinking person or a parrot?

This is so *atypical* of the right - taking everything on its superficial value - including the words and beautiful poetry of the Bible.

*Please*, try to dig just a tiny bit deeper, folks, and *think* about the simple point we've been trying to get across; that Jesus WAS a community organizer who with his disciples and followers spread the word of God and organized the Christian religion!

And no one here (except the Right) is comparing Obama with Jesus, except to say they both happened to be community organizers. Fini....

If Jesus was here today he'd probably be going from church to church telling them they screwed it all up.

Then you might want to re-think Obama's stand on partial-birth abortion
or are babies not on your list.
Sorry, when I think of Jesus, Obama does not come to mind.
But, JUDUS sure does.

Barack Obama on Abortion

"On an issue like partial birth abortion, I strongly believe that the state can properly restrict late-term abortions. I have said so repeatedly. All I've said is we should have a provision to protect the health of the mother, and many of the bills that came before me didn't have that."

I've been skeptical of Obama, just like I am of American politics in general, but the more I'm having to go and verify these claims, I'm seeing that A) there are a lot of misinformed people out there and B) this guy really isn't all that "radical." I like that he's open to letting states decide things like this. The federal government is too big.

You REALLY don't want to get into a Scripture war, do you?

Jesus said, "The poor you will always have with you." He set people's hearts on what is spiritual, not temporal.

"How little faith you have! And so you are not to set your mind on food and drink; you are not to worry. For all these are things for the heathen to run afrter; but you have a Father who knows that you need them. No, set your mind upon his kingdom, and all the rest will come to you as well.

"Have no fear, little flock; for your Father has chosen to give you the Kingdom. Sell your possessions and give in charity. Provide for yourselves purses that do not wear out, and never-failing treasure in heaven, where no thief can get near it, no moth destroy it. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
Luke 12:29-34

Jesus was raised in the Jewish community; they didn't NEED organizers. The Jewish law included provisions on how the community was to behave and provide for members.

Moreover, I find it insulting to try to compare Obama with Jesus. I'm quite sure Jesus wouldn't support abortion-on-demand and letting babies who survived abortion to die without care or comfort.

And Obama is going to solve this problem? Not that McCain is either though.

Look at his VOTES on this issue and then tell us he doesn't favor abortion-on-demand.

The size of Government isn't the issue. Efficiency and representation is. Folks toss around the word or catch phrase "Big Government" without seriously considering the role and purpose of Government and what it is they don't like about Government.
