He could choke on a pretzel like Bush did. Anything could happen to any of them. I was wondering about the process too so I'm glad the original poster asked the question.

What if Palin shoots a lawyer in the face while hunting, and nobody is around to hear it?

Gawd, we have to do something with her? Third in line. Now that is something scary as heck. And they worry about McCains age, how about Pelosi and her stupidity and ignorance.

Never thought of her that way, third in line. Maybe she will resign since she caused the oil prices to go up and has been on vacation while millions of Americans are struggling and losing home. Fine time to go on vacation isn't it, just when we need them they go on vacation.

So what happens if Obama dies before the election, Biden is not capable and is one brick short of a load and they have no one other candidate who could run the country. Not one.

Look at their leaders, Pelosi and Reid, tell me they are not short on talent.

The Answer: The right wing will be overwhelmed with pleasure and happy beyond all belief. They don't want John McCain. They want Palin.
I'm starting to think that's true! I almost feel sorry for him!!

He's already a prop (for Palin); this would just make that literal.

I don't think mccain is in too tough of shape. his mother is like 98. this is just another fear mongering concern courtesy of the left.

Is there any provision for replacing the official nominee of the party if they should die during the campaign. Would the party need a new convention? This must be a party rule as the selection of candidates isnt covered in the Constitution.
Does anyone know? If McCain were to die during the campaign, would the official nominee for VP hang on or would the new nominee get to select their running mate?

You don't think it's a legitimate concern (that you too ought to be thinking about), based on the man's apparent frailty, his past history of illness and his age, who would be taking over for him should anything happen?

You don't think the VP potentially taking over the presidency should be the concern no matter what party one is voting for?

I suspect so many of us are now deemed "inappropriate", given the inane and ever changing PC rules we are expected to strictly adhere to....is difficult to keep up with on any level. Most of us are too busy working hard to make ends meet and live our lives as best we can. Exceptions made of course for those effetes who make it their designated "profession" to stay incessantly "proper". Kudos to you!
McCain made a joke about a woman enjoying being raped by a gorilla! The punch line was something about, "Where is that marvelous ape." At a time when international sensitivities were at an extreme level McCain made up a song about bomb bomb Iran, displaying absolute insensitivity to the horrors of bombing civilians..... for a bomber pilot that is pretty far out there. "Inappropriate" was the nicest term I could thnk of.

Then of course there is the one in which he made fun of the pre teen aged Chelsey Clinton calling her "ugly" and making a snotty joke about her father being Janet Reno.......I BELIEVE PICKING ON A 12 YEAR OLD SHY LITTLE GIRL....IS MORE THAN POLITIACALLY INCORRECT.....I believe ridiculing a child is off limits now JUST as it was then, when McCain did it. The words "mean", "foul","bully" come to mind not political correctness. If Obama made some smutty joke about Palin's daughter, speculating on the circumstances of her pregnancy......people would go crazy. It's not right and it is a window into the character and immaturity of the man.
