Obama calls out Palin and the GOP for mocking the constitution; "Don't mock the Constitution. Don't make fun of it. Don't suggest that it's not American to abide by what the founding fathers set up. It's worked pretty well for over 200 years."
I had been waiting for him to fire back about that. Its the one thing that stood out to me from her speech. I was really shocked at how flippant she was about the whole thing. Reminded me of someone else currently in office...
washington mocks the constitution every time they amend it. next they are going to have a guarantee of happiness for everyone. life is bubble gum and lolly pops.
Well actually, it's a bit stupid of Obama to say that, because it only plays well in front of those who don't study the Constitution.
When Palin mocked Obama for worrying more about whether or not Al-Qaeda members were "read their rights" than in actually apprehending them, it wasn't exactly mocking the "Constitution."
There is nothing in the Constitution itself about Miranda Rights. There's the 5th Amendment Right to non-self-incrimination, but the Miranda rights are a Court created "rule" based on the Constitutional interpretation of the 5th Amendment. Perhaps a good rule, but the Court-ordered mandate that police read someone their "rights" is definitely not the same as say, mocking the first Amendment.
Besides, the guy who brought you a 180 on FISA isn't exactly keeping up his promise to the "Constitution," now is he?
But good try Obama. You're definitely playing down to the "low information" voter with THAT charge!

Washington does not amend the constitution, the states do. And it is constitutional to amend it, that is how it was designed.

Inalienable rights as described in the Declaration of Independence, and then instituted into law in our constitution through the Bill of Rights, are just that inalienable. When our leaders refuse to view all humans as being fallible and in need of the protection of the Constitution, not just the one's they like, we lose our freedom, since it lives in the rule of law.
the point is, they shouldn't touch it at all. every time they touch it, someone loses a right. anytime government gets involved with something, they ruin it.
