Suddenly a general asks for permission to take-down several aircraft that may be hijacked.
Present!
A week later we can listen to a speech equating the moral behavior of those taking a flight with those hijacking the plane and how, deep down, they were all just people who wanted to go someplace and who are we to judge the actions of those who want to get away on holiday.
I agree either would definately be better than Bush. But I've heard McCain say that even knowing what we know now, even knowing Al Quieda was not in Iraq, and that Hussein had no WMDs, he would STILL have proceeded with the war and used 4000 american lives in the process.
At this point, it is all about electrifying the base. There is still a large percent of population that believes Iraq and 9-11 are related. Most of the "let us kick butt" people I know seem to be in McCain base.
I think Palin's main concern at the time would be what color lipstick she should wear for the news conference. And quite honestly, I don't think she has the experience or fortitude to ask the difficult question that Cheney was forced to ask on September 11, 2001.
If you want to go here, I believe that Obama/Biden would have actually read the August 6, 2001, President's Daily Briefing Memo that said "Bin Laden Determined To Strike in U.S." and actually done something to prevent the 9/11 attack.
They probably would have taken their cue from their fellow democrat Clinton and figured it wasn't any real threat. You can't put out memo's about the danger of Bin Laden with one hand and release him with the other. If Bill Clinton didn't take it seriously after 8 years in office why would Obama think that he needs to take it seriously?

i think palin would have the balls to give the order to shoot down suspected planes. I think biden would, too.
Mccain would want to be on the plane shooting down the hijacked planes.
And obama would want to reach out, talk about it and see if perchance through diplomacy he could talk to the hijackers to get to land the planes safely.
