Two things:

1. Who will come up w/ the biggest and most destructive "October Surprise?"

2. How many voters who are saying they will back Obama are gonna have second thoughts when they get inside that polling booth? People lie to pollsters.

The reason it is clear that Bush stole the election is because in FL 8 years ago the votes were ALL counted by a consortium of several reputable media outlets after the Supreme Court stopped the voting (now why would they want to stop the counting of votes???) and surprise surprise the Democrats had THOUSANDS MORE votes than Bush. So yes, in 2000 Bush clearly did not win in FL.

In 2004, there were several serious abnormalities with the Diebold voting machines that showed votes being switched from Kerry to Bush and wiping out thousands of votes that had already been entered. Keep in mind that some IDIOTS who contribute heavily to the GOP decided these machines do not need a paper trail. Then these machines were left overnight with nothing but Republicans in a warehouse with no Democrats watching over them. Well I and many others strongly believe that the machines were programmed to make Bush win. Since the GOP in Ohio decided to get machines with no paper trail, it is certainly their fault.

It's not unforseeable that McCain has a Bob-Dole-falling-off-the stage moment.

How quickly we forget the polls from the NH Democratic primary.

This is why democrats believe Bush never won Florida in 2000. Obama might actually have a shot at taking Florida. The black vote will matter in this election despite the fact that the media has ignored it and focused on every other demographic. I think it will matter in states where its really close.

The media has ignored much during this Obama-McCain race, overwhelmingly favoring McCain. We've had 8 years of incredibly poor Republican policies with McCain a willing follower and supporter of Bush. He's a pathetic man who thinks that stating that the "surge worked" is a point in his favor, while ignoring the fact that Bush lied to go to war, lied when talking about the progress of the war, and the fact that a "surge" did not defeat the ideology. These Republicans thought that they could fight this ridiculous "war on terrorism" with military might, and they have not succeeded. Sending a bunch of troops to win a few battles in isolated regions means nothing in the overall scheme. You win a battle in some isolate village, so what? Bin Laden still at large, al Quaida still gaining strength, terrorism still abundant. Bush failed, the surge failed, and McCain is a part of this overall failure. In the meantime, Bush has ignored the domestic agenda, foolishly thinking that sending out checks to people as a part of a economic "surge" makes up for 8 years of failed domestic policies and inaction. Quite pathetic. Yet there is a segment in this country who will vote Republican no matter what, especially if the opponent is a BLACK MAN. This of course includes all of the South and all of rural America, and these people are the reason why this country has been in regression.

McCain rests his campaign on these sad folks. I don't expect there are enough black people in FL or the South to overcome this pathetic bunch. The South will go for McCain for the simple reason that he is not the black candidate. The issues are unimportant.

You may be right, but they are not the type of people who would have voted for Kerry or Gore anyway. The difference may be a huge turnout for Obama, many who have never voted before. Repubs seem to usually have decent turnout, but this year they may be overwhelmed.

i would also add that there was a scarcity of voting machines in many of cleveland's poorer dem leaning districts. these precincts were combined into one voting place, resulting in many ppl having to wait hours to vote for john kerry. it's no secret that zogby exit polling indicated that kerry had won ohio. If ALL of the votes had been counted and ALL allowed to vote, the ohio results would have been different. i don't know how george w can sleep at night.

I must say, the simple title of this thread is offensive. The title assumes that all black people in Florida will vote for a black person based on skin color.

Imagine if this thread said "Will The White Vote Deliver Vermont to McCain in November".

I would hope that black and white both would see beyond skin color with their vote. I would hope male and female would see beyond gender with their vote.

The racial double standard happening in this country is alarming. Hardly the equality that MLK envisioned.

Lightbulb Will the black vote deliver Florida to Obama in November?

Possible, but doubtful.
