Obama on Fox News in April: "On an issue like partial birth abortion, I strongly believe that the state can properly restrict late-term abortions. I have said so repeatedly. All I've said is we should have a provision to protect the health of the mother, and many of the bills that came before me didn't have that."

Exactly the reason I cannot vote for Obama with a clean conscience. Although at the same time I cannot vote for McCain because I cannot vote for a continuation of the 8 years we're suffered under the warmongering village idiot from Crawford, TX.
I'm taking my cue from the movie "Brewster's Millions" and writing in "none of the above."

Are you people medical doctors? I think not.
The term "Partial Birth Abortion" is not even a medical term. The American Medical Association and the American College of Obstetrician and Gynecologists do not recognize "Partial Birth Abortion"
Futhermore, the procedure is only used in cases where the mother's life or health is in jeopardy. The procedure Obama voted against it would have been ruled unconstitutional anyway. See Stenburg vs Carhart as a precedent. Stenberg v. Carhart - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
My mother is a OB/GYN and has had to use this procedure when the mother's life and health had been compromised.
Really, is the woman whose life is endangered by a catastrophic pregnancy less valuable than that of the fetus she carries? That decision is hers and hers alone.

Scranton's a real city? I thought it was just the fictional town where they film "The Office." Whaddayaknow.

Holy Cow! That should go over real well with the addition of his position on infanticide.

Did you read the 1st line of the 2nd paragraph?
"The fact remains, with no provision to protect the health of the mother, this ban on a legitamite medical procedure is clearly unconstitutional and must be overturned."
So in the instance where a woman's life or well being is at risk, she should not be able to have a late term abortion???
If the proposed ban violated a constitutional right to privacy (think HIPPA)and jeopordized the mother's right to protect her own life and safety, then Michelle Obama was absolutely right to speak against it.
Better legislation is needed regarding late term abortion IMO, but it doesn't mean any unconstitutional and reckless proposal should be considered.
