FORT WAINWRIGHT, Alaska, Sept. 11 -- Gov. Sarah Palinlinked the war in Iraq with the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, telling an Iraq-bound brigade of soldiers that included her son that they would "defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans."

The idea that the Iraqi government under Saddam Hussein helped al-Qaeda plan the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, a view once promoted by Bush administration officials, has since been rejected even by the president himself. But it is widely agreed that militants allied with al-Qaeda have taken root in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion.

They don't get the news as quickly in Alaska, apparently.

Quite a distortion by the WaPo. Why do you think they call it Al Qaeda IN Iraq? She's talking about the terrorists that are in Iraq, not the Iraqi's.

Sounds like a good thing! No sanctuary anywhere; run but can't hide.

As much as I despise your ideological distortions and intellectually void hyperbole ...

I think you're right on this one.

That said, al-Qaeda wouldn't even be in Iraq had our president not authorized its invasion.

Perhaps they'd still be in Florida?

Palin got her much neede course in foreign relations from Bush's aides...so what did you expect her to say....she said it in Bush/Cheney language...not coming right out and saying Iraqi were responsible for 9/11 but using implication to say the same thing....same as Bush...exactly the same...and some people want more of THAT ???

They still could be, this administration doesn't have a clue. Or maybe we should put them on our payroll like we are doing with the Iraqi insurgents
