I've heard that the locals are bashing her in the letters to the editors in all the local newspapers. I wonder how well-liked she is in Alaska.

Apparently she has a high approval rate as Gov but it seems as VP the ratings are quite different.

I think most Alaskans are ok with her as governor, maybe that is hwy she still gets approval ratings for governor in the 60% range, as VP though? Different story.

Exactly. There are many local politicians in my city that I am able to tolerate as local politicians, but would shiver at the thought of being anything but.

Seriously, I've been generally okay mayor Daley (even with all his faults, although he's on seriously thin ice with me), but as VP candidate. Now that would get me packing my bags for another country.

Just because someone is popular and successful as a local politician doesn't mean they have what it takes to jump to the national scene.

This is how the American Taliban thinks:

KBYR talk radio host Eddie Burke admits he is a conservative and a “Palinista.”But on Wednesday Burke resorted to name calling when he found out Alaska Women Reject Palin planned to host a Saturday rally.
“They’re a bunch of socialist maggots, that’s what I’m going to call them — socialist maggots, that’s what they are, a bunch of socialist baby-killing maggots,” said Burke.
On Thursday Burke pulled back, a little. “Yesterday, I was probably a little over the top,” he said.
