So, I understand fully where McCain is coming from and to make an issue of physical limitations in this regard is really, really low.
Do you understand that McCain admitted to, and is on record as saying he is computer "illiterate"? Oh...perhaps you don't....anyway McCain will have a difficult time making something out of something he himself admitted to. It would make him look a bigger fool than he already is.
Even if it were a physical disability, and not the computer illiteracy that McCain admits to, there is an assisted device for computers for every type of disability you can imagine. I know many, many, many disabled people and this much I do know.
So even for those who refuse to listen to the key point--the fact that it's willful computer illiteracy that's the problem (and it's a big one!)--there's no way this could be a jab at disabilities since a physical disability does not stop a voice-prompted computer.
No, disabled people must unite and protest against us being used in this manner.
As a disabled person myself, I know it's not a question of not knowing HOW to use a computer -- it's a reality that oftentimes we're simply not able to do so. There are times when my hands are so swollen and painful that I can't type and when neck and shoulder pain are too bad, as well.
So, I understand fully where McCain is coming from and to make an issue of physical limitations in this regard is really, really low.
This has got to be absolutely horrible (the chronic pain and the swelling). If you were as moneyed as McCain, you could purchase a voice-prompted and voice-controlled computer. In fact, if it were a required part of your job, as it surely is for someone very high up in the political arena, it might be partially paid for you.
