It's not going to be people who post on message boards who determine this election
It will be the people who we never hear from. It will be the people who go about their business and don't engage in the kind of arguments we get in there, but who on election day will make sure they cast their vote.
I'm guessing they will vote in favor of McCain.

It has nothing to do with community activism. There are a lot of people who go to work and go home, live quiet lives, maybe live in rural areas where there IS no "community activism," but on election day they will get up and go to the polls. And I'm thinking those people are mostly McCain supporters.

Reason: the polls, not the pools - lol

I completely agree with you. But I don't know who will win, I'd say it's still 50/50 IMO because the future debates will decide it.
I'd even take it one step further and say that the only people that post on here, or even visit already have their minds made up. If an undecided person were to end up here looking for info, they wouldn't get anything out of the many threads taking personal shots, accusing others of racism, accusing others of sexism, and other such threads. And they wouldn't take this, or any forum, as a serious site for information.
Online forums such as this are really just for debates between people that already have their minds made up, and those who just like giving those 'passionate' supporters on here a hard time!

These blogs are great for people to get their points across but it is very rare that anyone will have their minds changed because of these blogs. Some on here want their opinions heard, some like to just rant and some like to provoke. All pretty harmless really but the OP is right, it really won't change the course of the election.

Disagree. I think there are plenty of people who don't participate in online forums who plan to vote for Obama. I wonder what would lead you to the conclusion that those people would necessarily support McCain?
There are many life-long Democrats like my dad and grandma. They are disgusted with the McCain/Palin ticket, and are the type of people you are describing.

Yup I agree though not sure McCain will benefit. I mean I know any number of Obama supporters too who don't bother to pontificate on message boards as I do...heh
I've just got to work on my now-undecided republican grandmother and mother who were for Obama and are wavering...

Sooo silly to think that engaging in a Blog would be the territory of one party or the other.
