True conservatives jumped ship before McCain was elected. They're the ones that bought into Romney, Thompson, Huckabee, and Ron Paul. We disagree on the candidates, but we didn't vote for McCain and never would.

As for the SEC deal, the President can ask for his resignation. He can't actually fire him.

Even if McCain couldn't fire him, he could certainly make life unbearable for him, enough to want to quit.
