It's smart on their part, Reagan strategy why talk to a hostile press when you can talk directly to the American people who like her. What's the mystery? There is one strategy for when you are in office and there is another when you are trying to get there. Keeping the press away from Palin may be good enough for those who "like" her but it doesn't get you many votes from those who just want to know who or what she is. I would suggest that the latter is a bit more important at this stage than the former.
