Obama and 90% of the electorate think the debates should continue. On the other hand, it was just announced that McCain's campaign has stated that unless the bailout plan is approved by Friday, he's NOT attending the debate.

Does that mean McCain is approving and pushing the $700,000,000,000 bailout?

Well, it appears this idea was indeed McCain's and Obama did not go to McCain about suspending the debates at all.

However, it appears your beloved Bill Clinton says that McCain offered the suspension in good faith and not because of any fear of debating Obama. He even pointed out that McCAIN WANTED MORE DEBATES. Read on:

In order to get legislation passed that can save our economy, they have to come up with, vote on and pass it.

Getting that legislation in place is more important than the debate. The debate can wait.

If that bill doesn't happen, quickly, there's not going to be a US economy.

Sorry you don't understand that.

And you actually have the audacity to complain about "intellect" on prior posts and then you come along with this gem of a thought above. Good job.

Sorry you don't understand how the Congress works. Right now is it still in committee - neither Obama nor McCain are on the committees drafting it. If both of them went back right now, all they could do is watch the committees do their jobs.

Au contraire. Obama called McCain yesterday morning to suggest they make a joint statement.

Katie Couric had to remind McCain, and the viewers, of this FACT last night and he had to admit it was TRUE.

McCain - so concerned about bipartisanship as he is, you know - was afraid to agree, what with the alpha-dog issues he has and all, and called big daddy (!!!) Bush in a panic. Daddy said, "There, there, dont be afraid, I'll help you." And that's what we have now.

Right. That Joe Biden is a real brain trust. Bwahahahaha.

Wow. Barry can use a cell phone? That's very impressive.

We will see how this mess works out, but old Empty Suit trying to act like he is eager for a debate is pretty funny indeed.

I do understand how Congress works. Thanks.

When these bills get written, they still have to get passed. They need to be available. They need to take time to understand what they're signing.

Have you considered that everything that is going on right now will effect the subject matter of the debates?

I'm afraid you are correct. They must act quickly...although I wonder if it is just like putting a finger in the ****. And I do very much want an attachment calling for the dept of Justice to do a REAL investigation with prison time as punishment for those who cooked books....

I don't give a fig about the debates right now (though I do chuckle at the thought that Obama's supporters think McCain is running from them...it's the one thing he is stellar at)...the congress needs to pass this stupid thing so the world economy doesn't grind to a halt.

McCain can gather the reps to vote in favor. That is not exactly just watching the committees.
