I am baffled to see people saying that Mccain and Obama should be in DC. What can they add to the equations that the other 500 people plus the leading economic leaders can't? Seriously. What do they bring to the table other than photo ops, more reporters and honestly a huge distraction to a hearing that is already starting to smell a lot like Socialism (that same socialism you berate and chastise Obama for).

What about Bush's speech? I did not hear it but I have heard parts and if I am not mistaken is he talking about all new loans being government backed? So the government owns your home until you pay it off? SOCIALISM ALERT!

This bailout is like putting a dirty, disease infested band aid on a broken leg. Mexico and Canada are looking pretty good right about now

this bailout does not have to be jammed through today. contact your senators and tell them you want more options!!!! they work for us, not the other way around.

I wish that were still true. Last night's speech was a joke and a political move on Bush's part to make Americans feel like they still have a say in the matter. Mccains campaign halt is just as bad of a move. He did it once before in 1999 and it helped him out.

This is a distraction from the fact that Mccain is free falling, his VP pick is a joke (who saw her dodge the Katie Couric questions about John Mccain's regulatory stances over the past 26 years?) and the Republicans are in danger of losing all control. There is nothing either candidate can do in DC other than provide a distraction.

Excellent point! Remind them that if they don’t act on your behalf you can easily vote against them in the election.

That's all fine and dandy when we have the time but right now with The President pushing for this bill, Congress starting to rush to a conclusion and Paulson looking for free reign to take $700 billion and do with as he pleases......we don;t have that kind of time.

I ask again.....and I hear people b******ng back and forth about Mccain and Obama.......what can either of them bring to the table other than a distraction? Why do they need to be in DC (or stopping along the way to do Katie Couric and Clinton's event)? WHAT? Please someone tell me!

the taxpayers do not need to tolerate this. right now everyone should be out there letting their representatives know that they are not fine with this bailout! we need to let them know if they want to spend our taxpayer money it better be on something constructive, like new jobs. we can have a chance to become energy independent and in the process create a lot of jobs for americans. we don't trust the government to do what we can do for ourselves if given the chance. they work for us and let them know it today!!!
