This was a ploy by the democrats. Unfortunately, the press will repeat their talking points for them. Fortunately, the world is aware of what McCain did and when he did it.
There was never a deal. Some rep senators might have been on board, but the senate is not the house. The gop in the house was never on board.

They are trying Sanrene, the loons are doing everything they can to blame McCain for something that never happened.
I think they are scared that McCain made the right choice and Obama was left to stutter some more. Uhhh, hummm, eehhhh, ohh no John got me again.

You mean the old guard that's failed miserably?
Why?
The meteor's come for the dinosaurs. It is a shame Obama had to choose one of them as his running mate, though.

I've read two reports. One says McCain sat in the meeting and said nothing and did nothing. The other said that McCain offered his own plan that everyone disagreed with. Since it's an election season, I say we shoot them all and start over. Do I need a license for that?

McCain blamed as US economic rescue deal staggers - Yahoo! News
"John McCain did nothing to help, he only hurt the process," the senior Democrat said at a joint news conference with Senate banking committee chairman Christopher Dodd.
Barney Frank, the Democratic chair of the House of Representatives financial services committee, said: "I think this was a campaign ploy for Senator McCain.
"I think they then had the problem that there might not have been enough of a deadlock for him to resolve," he said, after Dodd had earlier announced an in-principle agreement with some senior Republicans on the bailout package.
The meeting convened by Bush was a "photo op and political theater that had nothing to do with us getting to work," Dodd said.
And what did Obama say earlier today???
"I've been concerned for some time that when you start interjecting presidential politics into delicate negotiations, you could actually create more problems than less," Obama said. "It is amazing what you can get done when the cameras are not on and people are not looking to get credit or allocate blame."
And now who is the real leader?
Who can do 2 things at the same time?
Who doesn't have Palin for a running mate?

McCain's grandstanding and posturing are so unbelievably transparent to everyone who has an ounce of intelligence. His presence in Washington is absolutely unnecessary, and is most likely causing more chaos than doing any good. He has no expertise to lend in this type of economic negotiation.
He has publicly admitted that he doesn't have a good understanding of the economy, and he has recently, publicly stated that he thinks the economy is currently basically strong. Suddenly, his stance on the economy has changed so much so quickly, that his presence in Washington is fundamental to any deal being struck, and he can no longer campaign when the election is 40 days away? Are you kidding me?
We didn't need Dodd or Frank to tell us all that McCain's actions over the past two days were just campaign ploys, political theater, grandstanding, posturing, and thinly-veiled attempts at taking the heat off his losing campaign. We already know that. It's pretty dang obvious. Some Republicans, however, are simply in denial.

Oh, I think Sean nailed it yesterday:

He didn't go to Washington to work on the bail out package - he came to show that he isn't in Bush's shadow. It's a campaign move.

Dodd and Frank? Those two wolves... in charge of the henhouse? Thank-you John for getting in their way. They can only be up to no good.

Not having Palin as a running mate is a great reason to vote for Obama. When you have Katie Couric helping you finish sentences you know you're in way over your head.
