It wasn't ungracious and petty. You are spinning.
Its funny how liberals are all worried that Biden will have to take it easy on Palin or he will be looked at as being mean. Then they run around and whine that McCain wasn't nice to Obama.
Its hard to take people like that seriously.

Maybe she already has, in private. She's just doesn't quite seem the same as she was during the convention speech. The accent seems more prominent, or maybe it's just me picking it up more. We'll see in the debate.

It did look that way, I think. What was really going on in McCain's head is unknown, but I'm starting to think he was not only mad at Obama, but also at the moderator and debate organizers, and upset by the fact that his attempt to delay the debate didn't work.
So while not necessarily meaning to show disrespect to Obama, he came across more like someone having to trudge through an event they REALLY didn't want to go to. Kind of like visiting your inlaws when you didn't want to, or go to a party for a coworker you hate... sometimes you just can't help looking like you don't want to be there.

Only when complimenting each other or asking for something directly. It's a violation of the rules to speak directly.

Personally, I think he has to be careful to be respectful and NOT come off as mean. it's ungentlemanly. And the way McCain behaved WAS ungentlemanly.

Obama is too full of himself and thinks way too highly of himself.

Hmmm-you must have seen a side to this debate I missed. I am no Obama fan but he looked way more gentlemanly than McCain. McCain had to be interrupted because he went on and on and wouldn't give the usual deference to the other speaker expected in a two-way discussion. McCain was trying to appear strong, knowing, and so far above the likes of his opponent that sharing the same stage was an insult. McCain is the man who sneers and smiles disdainfully at his opponents. He did the same to Romney.
And smirks---yikes--you think Obama was smirking?? Well--it just goes to show ya--

McCain looked very calm and polite smiles, never angry or nervous. Obama looked very nervous or angry first part of debate on economics, why was that?

Because you were high from inhaling McBush's used depends and watching the debates at the same time?
