Republicans want Wall street to pay its way out of the mess instead of main street. I hope they hang tight. The nerve of democrats loading this bill up with pork and perks for their failed programs, especially ACORN, is amazing.

Barney Frank is a bigger mumbling, bumbling idiot than Bush.. and I never thought I'd be able to say something like that about anyone. Frank was the one stating all these recent years that Fannie/Freddie "posed no risk to the taxpayer," and now he's one of the main people working on the bailout?

Why voters in Massachusetts keep putting him in office is beyond me..

No its actually helping share holders more than anyone. And as these people like you, me our parents and grandparents reinvest this capital into the economy it will grow. This growth will create jobs, these jobs will generate tax revenues. So not only do we get a break on our investments but we grow the economy and create jobs. Better jobs for us and jobs for the unemployed. All of this economic activity will help lift us out of this crisis

I like what I am seeing from the House Republicans in looking at better solutions than the taxpayer bailing out Wall Street. If that includes suspension of the Cap Gains tax, then so be it. Time for looking at creative solutions!!

Exactly. The Republicans have blown a lot of spending throughout the Bush admin, but this bailout is one area where they're taking the side of the people over earmarks. They should adamantly refuse to sign anything that includes earmarks.. if Dems still want to pass it, it's all on them when the voters find out, and Obama doesn't want that.

Mc Cain economic policy is absolutely disastrous: repealing the AMT, no plan of ending the Iraq/Afghanistan wars, which have cost us almost 1 trillion so far, extension of Bush tax cuts for those who earn more than 250 K/year. Obama's plan is not much better but if he plans to end these 2 wars, I have to respect him because this would be the most fiscally responsible thing to do. Mc Cain on the other hand is an absolute economic ignoramus.

Yes some of the Republicans are fighting for the American people. In fact, Eric Cantor and Newt Gingrich have offered a plan that would be an insurance policy not a government buy out. That IS protecting the American people from socialism but you'll never hear the far left admit it or even some Reps such as Bush. In case you hadn't noticed the far left is so rabid about getting a Democrat in office that they have lost all decency. They will say and do anything. The ends justify the means and their tactics have become totally vile, just look at the filthy lies they have spread about Palin and the ads on TV about McCains previous skin cancer. It's hard to believe we live in a society with such hateful human beings.

Bush and the Republicans OWN this economic melt-down.

The Republicans are not even supporting their own sitting President on this one - shows you how split the Republicans are...

For God's sake, do some homework, all the info is at your finger tips...Clinton created the mess. The Bush admin was trying to stop this run away train since 2001. Dems and RINO's kept it going and the Dem congress made it crash...but all you want to do is blame Bush for everything...

I dunno, same reason they put Kennedy in. At least it's one down, with them.
